World Environment Day (WED) is an annual event widely celebrated on 5th of June. It was established by the United National General Assembly in 1972 and has grown to become one of the main vehicles through which the UN stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and encourages political attention and action. Each World Environment Day is organized around a theme that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental concern. The theme for 2018 is beat plastic pollution.
